What is Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses hypnosis to help individuals achieve positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.  While the effectiveness of hypnotherapy can vary from person to person, it has been used to address a variety of issues.

Here are some common areas where hypnotherapy may be beneficial (although it is used for many more areas than listed below):

  1. Stress and Anxiety:

    • Hypnotherapy can help individuals relax and manage stress and anxiety by inducing a state of deep relaxation.

  2. Smoking Cessation:

    • Hypnotherapy is sometimes employed to assist individuals in quitting smoking by addressing the psychological aspects of the habit.

  3. Weight Management:

    • Hypnotherapy can be used to promote healthier eating habits, reduce cravings, and address emotional eating patterns.

  4. Habitual Behaviors:

    • Hypnotherapy may assist in addressing unwanted habits or behaviors by targeting the underlying motivations or triggers.

How Does Hypnosis REALLY Work?:

Imagine this scenario:  You are trying to get to a destination (reach a goal).  You and a passenger (your hypnotist) are in your car ready to drive to your destination.  The problem is, you at the driver don't know how to get there.  But your passenger (your hypnotist) does know how to get there.    Remember, this is your car, so you are the driver.

So your passenger (your hypnotist) starts directing you as to where to go, for example: turn left here, or turn right there.  BUT, if you as the driver decide not to turn your car left or right, depending on what the passengers (your hypnotists) directions then you are not going to get to your destination (your goal).  If you DO follow the directions your passenger (your hypnotist) is advising, you will in fact arrive at your destination (your goal).

The point of the above scenario is:  You absolutely know what is going on, there is no mind control, you have conscious choice to follow the suggestions or not.  Successful hypnosis sessions are up to you and your willingness to listen and follow the suggestions.

Can I Even Be Hypnotized?:

Yes, everyone can be hypnotized.  Just like the driving scenario above, it is up to you.  Hypnotism is not mind control, and you are not put into 'sleep'.  If you wish to be hypnotized, to help you achieve a goal, then you absolutely can be hypnotized.
